Privacy Policy
We built Bank of Parents to help families manage allowance in a way that is simple, safe, and transparent. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account info: parent (or other adult) name, email, and password (hashed).
- Family info you add: child accounts, chores, rewards, allowance settings, balances, and activity history.
- Usage analytics: for adult accounts only, we use Mixpanel to record screen views and in-app actions, linked to your account ID and email, so we can understand how the app is used and improve it.
- Diagnostics: we use Sentry to collect crash and error reports (e.g. stack traces, device/OS info) to fix bugs.
- Push notification tokens: if you enable notifications, we store a device or browser token so we can deliver them.
How we use data
- Provide the service: create accounts, show balances, track chores, and process allowance payouts inside the app.
- Improve and support: fix bugs, protect against abuse, and make Bank of Parents easier to use.
- Communicate with you: account notices, security alerts, and service updates.
Kids' privacy
A parent or guardian creates each child's account and sets their login credentials. Children do not sign up on their own, and we never collect a child's email or phone number to create or use their account. Child accounts are excluded from our analytics: we do not send a child's activity, account ID, or any other identifying information to Mixpanel or any other analytics provider. Parents can view, manage, or delete a child's account and data at any time from the app.
Data sharing
We don't sell your personal data. We share limited data with the service providers that help us run Bank of Parents, including Firebase (authentication and push notifications), Mixpanel (analytics, adult accounts only), and Sentry (crash/error diagnostics), under contracts that require them to protect your information and use it only to provide their service to us.
Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data, except where we need to keep certain records for security, compliance, or legal reasons.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your information. No system is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
Your choices
- Access, update, or delete your data by contacting support or using in-app options as they become available.
- Control notifications in your device or account settings.
